NORINGO / EXPERIMENTAL ENGINEERING STUDIO
Power in motion.
Precision in balance.
One ring. One sun. Three orbiting planets. A compact mechanical system that can distribute and combine motion in remarkable ways.
An elegant mechanical relationship
Three coupled motions.
One simple equation.
The planetary gearset is the heart of a power-split hybrid transaxle. The engine connects to the planet carrier, MG1 to the sun gear, and the ring gear connects to the driveline and MG2 through additional gearing.
Change one rotational speed and the other components must respond. The animation uses that kinematic relationship—not three unrelated spinning objects.
Why NORINGO values elegant engineering ↗= 96ωcarrier
For this conceptual model: 24 sun teeth, 24 planet teeth and 72 internal ring teeth.
ωsun = 4ωcarrier − 3ωring
These example tooth counts illustrate a mechanically consistent gearset; they are not claimed to represent any particular Toyota production transaxle.
Engineering context: Inspired by Toyota's hybrid power-split architecture. The mechanism belongs to the hybrid transaxle, rather than the conventional four-wheel-drive transfer case. Component connections are described in Toyota technical material. This independent NORINGO visualization is not affiliated with or endorsed by Toyota and is not a manufacturing CAD model.
